Reducing heat loss by retrofitting heat shields in combination with light grids is another good way of saving energy and costs.
Based on a typical production example, a machine with 250 tonnes clamping force and 2,500 cm³ injection unit, 8-nozzle cold runner and injection mould that produces with a cycle time of 340 seconds, the following savings could be determined, for example:
Average consumption: 11.71 kWh
Annual consumption: 67,918 kWh
Energy costs per year: €16,980
Savings per year = 2,378 kWh ≙ €595
This saving can only be achieved through this one retrofit, but there are many other options that DESMA can offer in this area to contribute to energy/cost savings and environmentally friendly production.
