DESMA in China - European technology with local cost advantage.

Many people consider China to be the engine for the recovery of the global economy. With 13.7 million automobiles built in 2009 and expecting a definite jump of 10 %, China might actually become the hub of the future economic development.
It is not only about the increasing volume, but also the increasing interest in high-quality cars and service. The resulting demand of the automotive manufacturers for high-quality parts that are supposed to be produced with cost advantage and in high volumes is also reflected in the business strategy of the auto component suppliers.
 China - also a very attractive destination for the rubber component industry.
World leading rubber component manufacturers have already set up or are in the process of setting up manufacturing plants in China. The suppliers from Europe, the USA and Japan have large facilities being set up to cater to the growing demands for quality and volumes. Strong global players such as ZF, Contitech, Trelleborg, Anvis, Elring Klinger, Bruss, Tenneco, Vibracoustic are set to cater the growing market potential of China.
Moreover, the local manufacturers on the other hand are under pressure to improve the quality and consistency of their rubber parts. They have the price advantage and they need to build on this advantage and improve the quality. Only cheap is no more the only selling point in China - quality is equally important.
At the right time, at the right place, with competitive prices and perfect solutions.
DESMA Wuxi started production end of 2007. Growing substantially every year, we have been entering 2010 with extensive preparation and big hopes. Our location is close to Shanghai, Ningbo and other important markets for auto components. With advantage of our vicinity we can reach our customers quickly.
We are a strong team of 30 people with extensive experience in sales, service and production. Our well trained sales department responds quickly to customer needs for standard offers or complex project solutions.
At Wuxi we are making machines from 100 ton to 250 ton clamping forces and with injection volumes from 350 ccm to 4,000 ccm. 400 ton and bigger sizes are sold and served by DESMA Wuxi. With the Sigma and Alpha machine series we have the perfect solution for different mould sizes and automation levels required in China. With fast cycle time, efficient power consumption and material usage with minimum rejections we have a distinct cost advantage over other solutions in the market.
With strong emphasis on "cost per piece" we are well received by the local Chinese component manufacturers as well as we are serving our global clients in China. We have been very successful in promoting our buying concept for machines based on the cost of final product rather than price of the machine.
DESMA offers European technology transfer to use local cost advantages.
DESMA so far is the only European manufacturer in this field having its own manufacturing plant set up in China and producing machines with state-of-the-art technology for the Chinese market. Our global clients have the advantage of having the same technology at their disposal as they use in Europe - but with the definite cost advantage of our Chinese manufacturing. Moulds optimized in Europe can directly start production on DESMA China machines with the same parameters.
The leading local auto component manufacturers tested us cautiously over the last two years and after weighing up the advantages of the DESMA technology against the cheap local made machines, many have now patronized on DESMA machines. We are working with our customers not only as machine supplier, but as part of their team in the overall development of quality and cost reduction of the final product. We welcome the change in the outlook of the local manufacturers towards good quality and highly productive machines, which will result in a level playing field for all manufacturers in China.
After a small beginning in 2008, we have already registered a highly interesting growth in 2009. In 2010, we expect another doubling of production to up to 60 machines. Recently, we have upgraded our facility and reorganized our stores to make more space available for parallel assembly of at least 12 machines. We have added a new in-house painting facility to finish the parts faster. In 2009, we reinforced our production, purchase, sales and service teams with new experienced team members. We are well prepared to serve our customers with faster deliveries and quick after-sales service.
