Value-creating novelties for our customers
The patent pending FlowControl cold runner system developed by DESMA demonstrates state-of-the-art technology and maximum flexibility. We are particularly glad of having won the DKG Product Award 2006 in the category machines and equipment for this technology already launched!
This breakthrough cold runner technology along with an innovative control of the individual nozzles through the injection moulding machine enables an unequalled arrangement of nozzles and their volume balancing. The cleaning in case of a compound change is also amazingly easy to perform. With a 9-nozzle FlowControl cold runner block with article direct injection (9 different article sizes) combined with the DESMA-patented DESFlex-system, a zero-waste article production will be presented on a horizontal DESMA 969.300 Zv (S1) completed by a highly innovative brushing and demoulding system. This special machine is our bestseller for precision articles within the range of seals.
Groundbreaking innovations in the CRB
The cold runner block (CRB) system FlowControl developed by DESMA with patent pending shut-off nozzles is - in addition to the article direct injection - more and more used as universal CRB for most various applications. In this context, special attention is not only given to fully avoiding runner waste, but to variable nozzle balancing. Every nozzle is fitted with a separate hydraulic cylinder which in connection with an outside arranged mechanism actuates the closing.
The prime advantage of FlowControl is that only a slight pressure drop occurs compared to customary CRBs with needle-shaped shut-off nozzles. This new shut-off technique along with hydraulic actuation is ideally suited for the use of high-viscosity elastomers, even in case of very high injection pressures. Owing to the separate activation of each individual nozzle combined with a special hydraulic system, any shut-off points are definable by the user via adequate input masks in the control system.
This technique is optionally available on all DESMA machines equipped with the control generation DRC 1210/2010 with particularly appropriate screen pages. The shut-off points per nozzle can be entered at the machine control unit either via the volume injected (piston position) or time-controlled. Thus, volume balancing through the machine control and storage of the balancing parameters together with the mould data record is possible. After a mould change, with keeping the CRB, the right nozzle balancing is automatically active upon loading the respective data record. Consequently, balancing facilitates the use of standardized CRBs distinctly.
Fields of application of the FlowControl technique are all kinds of elastomer articles, the article production of different sizes in one mould and also the direct injection of large-volume parts with several nozzles. The position of joining spots with large seals can be set in a flexible way.
