The Interplastica exhibition was a very successful event for DESMA. From 24-27 January the industry met in the Expocenter with the majority of the visitors coming from Russia and the former CIS countries. For many years, DESMA has recorded an increasing number of guests stopping by its booth.
While in the past, the main interest was focused on infrastructure projects and mining, there has been now a clear increase in inquiries from the automotive sector. Certainly, this can be attributed to the stately ruled manufacturing penetration which has to remain in the country. Especially international automobile groups are hence compelled to purchase their outside parts from Russian suppliers. This of course provides both the domestic and the globally operating automotive supply industry new opportunities but also challenges. Setting up an enterprise in Russia is still not an easy venture and involves a great deal of bureaucracy. Nevertheless, Russia and the neighbouring countries represent a region of big growth potential.
For decades, DESMA has been active in the Russian market and is excellently established. In addition to the sales office, a DESMA-owned service base is on hand to ensure swift and skilled performance.
We will keep on participating in developing and shaping this market in order to successfully gain market shares by successfully seizing the opportunities offered, among others, by the auto ancillary sector. As far as high-voltage technology for the electrical industry and special machines for the production of stators are concerned, DESMA has been the market leader in Russia as well for many years. Nonetheless, we feel the most important growth potential to be in the automotive area which, however, can only be raised quickly if the governments implement adequate programs for reliable procurement of foreign exchange and acceptable conditions for clients and suppliers quickly.
