A reason to celebrate - View into the new production hall
Five new DESMA injection moulding machines at once and a new production hall were ceremonially commissioned on the occasion of the 80th anniversary. Brandenburg Prime Minister Matthias Platzek took this opportunity to visit personally the anniversary in order to start the new machines "at the touch of a button" in production. "Thus the crisis has now been crossed off completely", Thomas König said.
With a total of 600 visitors the anniversary was celebrated with an "Open company day".
The latest major investment in a DESMA special machine for the production of gaskets with a diameter of 1,600 mm was two years ago. This very courageous decision at that time was followed directly by the economic crisis which, however, has been coped well with short-time work and flexible working hours. Today the crisis is behind us and the order level of 2008 has been achieved again.
With the new machines Motzener Kunststoff- und Gummiverarbeitung considers itself well equipped and has now most modern manufacturing technology at its command. "Our great strength", König said, "lies in the fact that we can deliver promptly and flexibly". For this purpose quick mould change times are a decisive criterion. Therefore the new machines have been particularly modified by DESMA according to customer needs.
The Motzener Kunststoff- und Gummiverarbeitung GmbH (www.kunststoff-gummi.de) is rich in history. Here in the 1920s the company has begun to process plastics. Thus, one has experienced and shaped the various processing technologies. In its current form Motzener started in 1993 as "management buyout" with 15 employees at that time. Today over 60 employees are producing approx. 1,000 different articles for many industrial sectors. From waterproof cell phone parts to capacitors seals up to large seals for mining machines almost all can be found in the production program. Due to the multitude of different articles a maximum of flexibility is required. "This can be optimally implemented with the new machines", Bernd Moos said.
